Many people are returning to work part time due to the credit crunch. Some people may have chosen to work part time due to study commitments whilst others want to find a job that fits around the school day so that they do not have to compromise their family time.

Many shops offer part time working hours. Work days are based on a shift system in the bigger shops meaning that people are able to find hours to suit them, whilst smaller shops may just want someone to cover peak periods, generally the middle of the day. Other places of work such as doctors’ surgeries, dentists and some offices also offer part time working or job shares.

If you are looking for part time work we suggest that your first stop should probably be the local paper. Many smaller companies are more likely to advertise here first rather than paying a commission or finder’s fee to an agency. A larger company may well have gone through a local agency especially if they have several roles to fill.
